Meet the DiZZiDiNOS

Fairy Girl loves sprinkling her magic fairy dust wherever she goes. She lacks the experience to use it properly, however, and as a result, things appear that she sometimes hasn’t wished for! With no cares in the world, she is a happy little fairy, who sings sweetly and speaks with a little fairy-voice. Fairy Girl is based in Italy.

Chef Girl is a frustrated TV chef who talks non stop. She loves preparing things she thinks her audience will enjoy (but let’s just say that things don’t always turn out the way she plans!) Being in France, she is surrounded by good food and an interesting countryside.

With the beautiful scenery of Canada behind her, Zoom Girl loves speeding around on her scooter. We don’t know where she is going, but she is always in a hurry to get there. Zoom Girl is into fitness and always ensures she eats and drinks the right foods. Brrmmmmmm…….

Bold and daring, our Richard Attenborough-sounding explorer loves looking under things, and examining the flora and fauna he finds on Earth. He is an intrepid photographer who is also a great one for picking up rubbish.

Las Vegas, guitars and rock ‘n roll – Disco Boy loves them all. He is the Elvis Presley of the DiZZiDiNOS and he dances like John Travolta.

Karate Boy has landed in Hong Kong. His first love is karate, but with it comes meditation, tai chi and a love of herbal tea. He has a great respect for plants and whilst he is youthful and at times a little impatient, he aims to be at peace with himself.

With “football forever” as his catch-cry, it is obvious which sport this DiZZiDiNO favours. It is just as well he has landed in Singapore, as Singaporeans love their football. He also enjoys other games with balls. He is energetic and loves keeping fit. He tries to blend in with his Singaporean accent, but somehow he always manages to stand out!

Farm Boy is located in the United States. He talks with a Southern drawl. His trademark is to plant corn seeds wherever he goes. Farm Boy respects the land and the animals it supports.

Cowgirl has landed in the U.S. – which is a good thing, as they have some of the best rodeos there. She is in search of the wild west. Cowgirl loves lollipops and riding her toy pony. She also enjoys playing the mouth organ and yodelling!

Brainy Girl has landed in England and she takes advantage of her surroundings to study up on her history and attend classes at some of the best schools around. Her favourite things are her books and her calculator. She also enjoys classical music and computers.

As well as Surf Boy, Sleepy Girl has landed in Australia but these two never see each other because Sleepy Girl is always asleep! In her dreams she longs to be active, but in reality she just doesn’t have the energy. When she is asleep, Sleepy Girl sometimes misses out on some quite amazing things.

Having landed in Australia, Surf Boy takes advantage of the great beaches that this country has to offer. He rides a malibu, but also enjoys some skateboarding on the side. Surf boy is also concerned about the environment. He enjoys surf music and looking at hot rod cars.

DiZZiDiNOS In Production

Story Background

The mission was supposed to be simple.  Mothership 9 was meant to transport a pod full of DiZZiDiNOS from one planet to another, but a meteor shower interfered with its flight path and sent the pod into an uncontrollable spin.  All of the DiZZiDiNOS were ejected from the pod and they drifted down to Earth in their individual eggs…

Their Mission

The eggs in which the DiZZiDiNOS have fallen to Earth are not capable individually of generating enough power to get them back into space. To do this they must travel over land and sea to an island in the Pacific where they can join all their eggs together and use their combined power to go home.

Episode Content

- 5′ versions

Each episode focuses on a different DiZZiDiNO. The audience watches as the featured character travels around in the country he/she has landed in and joins in with them as they learn about Earth and interact with its inhabitants. As the DiZZiDiNOS are scattered all over earth, many different countries are featured.

- 24′ versions

Each episode consists of a compilation of 5 x 5′ episodes drawn together with a common theme (e.g. laughter).   Children watching the 24′ version will see five different DiZZiDiNOS featured plus a section at the end where the featured characters sing a “song of the day” which encapsulates the theme of that particular episode.

Episode Format

Each 5′ episode features a signature song which differs for each DiZZiDiNO, an-on location adventure, a rap dance and a section where the DiZZiDiNO is back in his/her egg (regaining energy). 60% of episodes feature an animated section towards the end of the episode, with the other 40% featuring a “mega-dance” by the character. Every episode also features computer animated special effects.

As 24′ episodes are compilations of 5′ episodes, the pace of the show is incredibly fast.

Dubbing

DiZZiDiNOS has been created with an international audience in mind. Not only is this reflected in the countries chosen for our location shooting, but also in that there will not be any songs to dub in each 5′ episode and only be one song to dub in each 24′ episode. In addition to this, the language is simple. In keeping with our pre-school philosophy, our focus is on more action and effects and less dialogue.

Exotic Locations

Filming has taken place in the United States, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, England, Italy, Canada and France, with more locations currently being planned, making this the first truly global pre-school show ever produced.
